A Driftwood Club is a one-handed melee weapon. This is the player's only initial means of self-defense and harvesting materials until more powerful weapons and tools can replace it. The Driftwood Club serves as the player's starting weapon and thus is not effective in any means of combat other than to annoy higher tier players who would more than likely kill you for being a nuisance rather than for the sake of the weapon.

Obtaining

The standard way to obtain a Driftwood Club is to craft one at any time using at least your default Manuscripts. However, the player also begins with one of these weapons every time they Respawn after a death, including when they first join a world.

Usage & Strategies

  • Holding right mouse button, provided you have sufficient Stamina, will cause you to block with the weapon. Blocking an attack causes a parry, which allows you to instantly retaliate. Head shots do significantly more damage.
  • This is the starting weapon and harvesting tool for new joining players to a world, thus it is despicable in combat and should be used as a harvesting tool until higher tier tools come into play. If you somehow end up in combat or typically want to combat higher tier opponents for a chance at their gear. Beware: Unless you can hit all of your hits and avoid all of their damage, this will be a long fight. The weapon's swing rate is relatively fast so hit and run tactics are encouraged, however its damage value is low, making it one of the least damaging weapons in the game, unless the opponent is willing to fight you to the death, they will more than likely get away unless you manage to cripple their legs. It will take up to 10 hits on an unarmored opponent to kill them or less if you manage to aim for the head. If for any reason you find yourself in combat against an opponent with a full steel set, there is absolutely no chance for you to win that fight unless you are incredibly skilled in evasive, defensive and offensive melee combat.
